SHOVVA / ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility matters on every business page.

Our commitment

Shovva is built for businesses and the customers who visit their pages. That includes people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, zoomed browsers, reduced-motion settings, high-contrast settings, voice control, and other assistive tools.

Shovva is operated by SHOVVA LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17223729, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.

Accessibility is not a one-time checkbox for us. It affects the marketing site, the Shovva workspace, public business pages, and the choices businesses make when customising their pages.

In plain English: we aim to make Shovva easy to navigate, easy to read, and usable without relying on a mouse, perfect eyesight, or motion-heavy effects.

Where this applies

  • Marketing site — public pages such as the homepage, pricing, blog, contact page, legal pages, and support content.
  • Shovva workspace — the logged-in area where businesses build their pages, manage sections, view analytics, update settings, and manage billing.
  • Public business pages — the pages visitors see at URLs such as https://shovva.me/your-username.
  • Customised business pages — pages where businesses choose colours, media, links, embeds, copy, images, sections, and effects.

Standards we work towards

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as our reference point, particularly WCAG 2.1 AA principles around perceivable content, keyboard access, readable structure, understandable forms, and robust markup.

We do not claim that every page, every third-party embed, and every user-selected colour combination has been independently audited to WCAG 2.1 AA. Where we make product choices, we aim to follow those standards. Where businesses customise their own business pages, accessibility can also depend on the choices they make.

What we build into Shovva

  • Readable structure — pages should use clear headings, sections, links, buttons, and labels so content makes sense to people and assistive technology.
  • Keyboard access — core navigation, buttons, forms, modals, and workspace actions should be usable without a mouse.
  • Visible focus states — interactive elements should show a visible focus state when reached by keyboard.
  • Form labels — important form fields should have clear labels or accessible names.
  • Reduced motion support — decorative animations and business page effects should respect reduced-motion preferences where possible.
  • Contrast-aware design — default themes and interface colours are designed with readability in mind.
  • Responsive layouts — pages should work across desktop, tablet, and mobile without forcing unnecessary horizontal scrolling.

Business owner-customised business pages

Shovva gives businesses control over how their public business pages look. That flexibility is important, but it also means accessibility can be affected by business owner choices.

  • Low-contrast colour combinations can make text harder to read.
  • Images without useful context can be harder for screen reader users to understand.
  • Too much animation can be uncomfortable for some visitors.
  • Unclear link text such as “click here” can make navigation harder.
  • Third-party embeds may not follow the same accessibility standards as Shovva.

Where possible, we design defaults, warnings, and patterns that encourage accessible business pages. We may not block every customisation that could reduce accessibility, but we do encourage businesses to keep their business pages readable, clear, and usable.

Known limitations

We are honest about where accessibility can still vary:

  • Some third-party services, embeds, checkout flows, videos, maps, social widgets, and external tools are controlled by their own providers.
  • Business owner-uploaded images, videos, copy, colour choices, and links may not always meet accessibility best practice.
  • Some decorative business page effects may be simplified or disabled for reduced-motion users rather than offering an equivalent described experience.
  • Older content, imported content, or experimental features may need further review as the platform develops.

How we improve accessibility

  • We review new interface patterns for readability, keyboard access, and mobile usability.
  • We treat serious accessibility barriers as product issues, not cosmetic feedback.
  • We improve templates, business page sections, and workspace flows when problems are found.
  • We prioritise fixes that stop users from signing up, building a business page, managing billing, contacting us, or using public business pages.

Reporting an accessibility issue

If something on Shovva is difficult or impossible to use, please tell us. Clear reports help us reproduce the problem and fix it faster.

What to include in a report

  • The page or business page URL where the issue happened.
  • What you were trying to do.
  • What went wrong or what blocked you.
  • Your device, browser, and operating system.
  • Any assistive technology you were using, such as a screen reader, keyboard navigation, zoom, voice control, or reduced-motion setting.
  • Screenshots, screen recordings, or exact steps if you can provide them.

Response and fixes

We aim to review accessibility reports and prioritise fixes based on severity, complexity, affected users, and whether the issue sits inside Shovva or a third-party service.

Issues that block access to core account features, public business pages, payment flows, or contact routes are treated as higher priority.
